Her plate lay where she left it, half eaten and cold. Not acknowledging that she has actually left, and will soon be boarding a plane back to Vegas, is somewhat of a flood gate to my tears...kindly closed.
I have never loved my mother so much as I have loved her during the past two weeks. We connected in a way that perhaps only mothers can connect with their mothers. Let me reword that, perhaps it takes becoming a mother to truly appreciate and cherish one's own mother.
If you ask us what we did while she was here, we couldn't tell you an agenda of events, as nothing we did was planned...we mostly sat around, drinking coffee, playing with Juan, reading books about caring for a baby naturally. We worked out together, and ate massive amounts of rich foods, and shared gold metal bottles of wine, we walked through the park and through the dirty city streets, and curled on the couch in our pajamas...We enjoyed every waking minute of each others company, and I am beyond sad to see her go.
December can not arrive quick enough for me now.
